Ryan Ruter was back in action on Tuesday night in his #555 Ruter Farms/Side Biter Chassis with the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) at I-35 Speedway (Mason City, Iowa).

Thirty competitors took to the oval for the $5,000-to-win event, and a fourth to second run in his heat race locked Ryan into the redraw for the feature, where he was the recipient of the pole starting spot for the 40 lap finale. As the race went green Ruter bolted to the lead and held the top spot until lap 13, when Jason Hughes slipped past. Ruter jumped back to the lead on the next lap before Hughes permanently moved back to the lead one lap later. Ruter raced in the top five for much of the remainder of the event before ultimately recording a sixth place finish behind race winner, Hughes, Rodney Sanders, Ryan Gustin, Stormy Scott, and Zack Vanderbeek.

Full results from the event are available at www.USMTS.com.

Meanwhile on Tuesday night Cole Hodges powered his Side Biter IMCA Open Wheel Modified to the Wild West Challenge at Lincoln County Speedway (North Platte Nebraska). He started on the pole for the feature and never looked back on his way to the victory.

The team planned to open the holiday weekend with a $2,000-to-win event at I-35 Speedway (Mason City, Iowa), but Mother Nature had other ideas as she claimed another 2013 season victory.

On Friday night Ruter was in action at Fairmont Raceway (Fairmont, Minnesota) in a $4,000-to-win program. Twenty-eight entries were in the pits for the program, and a fifth place finish in his heat race left Ryan short of locking into the feature, and as a result he ran the b-main, where he finished fourth to earn the twentieth starting spot for the 40 lap finale. He would battle the handle early in the feature before ultimately retiring to a 23rd place finish.
